The AGC says it is satisfied that there has been ‘substantive compliance’ with the requirements of its warning letter

SINGAPORE – The Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) said today (June 11) it will not be taking action against City Harvest Church pastor Tan Kim Hock for posting two messages on Twitter that were deemed to have scandalised Singapore’s judiciary system.

“We are satisfied that there has been substantive compliance with the requirements of our warning letter, and will not be taking any further action against Mr Tan Kim Hock,” an AGC spokesman said.

The AGC on June 3 told Mr Tan to remove two tweets and publish an apology on his Twitter account within seven days. It said one of the tweets had insinuated that the State Courts gave The Straits Times newspaper “preferential and privileged access” to information on whether City Harvest Church leaders involved in an ongoing trial had a case to answer even before the decision was delivered by Judge See Kee Oon.

The tweet further insinuates the State Courts is “biased and unfair”, given that such treatment was not equally accorded to everyone else, the AGC said. It warned that publishing such insinuations could amount to contempt of court.

The second tweet cited the bible verse of Ecclesiastes 3:16. The AGC said the message insinuated that Singapore’s courts are corrupt, including the court hearing the City Harvest Church leaders case.

“AGC takes the view that the insinuations set out in the two tweets are insinuations which scandalise the Judiciary of the Republic of Singapore. These insinuations are scurrilous, false, and made without any objective basis,” it said in the June 3 statement.

An earlier check of Mr Tan’s Twitter account, which has since been privatised, showed both tweets had been removed. He also made reference to one of the tweets deemed objectionable, tweeting: “On 6 May, I tweeted a bible verse. On hindsight, I realise that the tweet may be possibly misinterpreted and I have since removed it.”

The AGC today reminded members of the public not to publish comments that “undermine the confidence in the administration of justice in Singapore”, and said it will take appropriate action against anyone committing contempt against the Singapore courts. CHANNEL NEWSASIA

My blog had not been updated for quite long, let me give you some update.

I had stopped my future study in degree since last year start of November 2013. The reason is because the school had released the assignment very late at end Sep 2013 for three modules, At start Oct 2013, there is one module on programming PHP with MySQL to design a web site given the server login to able to do homework and four weeks later due date for assignment. As I cannot finish my assignment online for programming as documentation no time to do it after given a demo to complete some function but not all, plus two other modules need to do case study which I show the lecture some part of it and she said totally out of point need to redo. Then I seek small claim tribunal to ask school refund me S$4000 school fee out of S$7700 plus half of the school fee paid. The director who is the school registrant come said no refund. So the assistant registrant of the small claim tribunal look at a copy of school contract given by school to seek CPE, www.cpe.gov.sg to resolve our problem as she is given me three weeks if cannot resolve will submit to the judge to decide the case in trial.

So I seek CPE, he said my small claim case must be closed in order to proceed. So I done that and the medication was called, I paid S$120 and school paid S$480 plus additional 7% GST. I told both mediator that I withdraw study and seek partial refund is because all the three modules were finished the lecture and I left a month plus for both module and 4 weeks for programming modules to do assignment and I left very little time to do and did not receive much help from the lecturers. So end up the school said we are middle man cannot do anything like demanding the overseas university to tell us next semester when is the estimated or excepted date for the assignment date to be release and dead line to submit.

So end up I go to arbitrator scheme in early Jan this year. I paid S$130 and school paid S$1170 no GST needed to pay. So I ask the arbitrator and he teach me how to play this game as once I broke the rule game over and I get nothing. If I win the case I get back claim of S$4000 and if I loss by the arbitrator who is the judge I get nothing. So I submit my claim with some e-mail to school and replied, the school submit defense which is very thick document mostly contain rubbish irrelevant to the claim and also no proper form fill up and attached. So I submit my defense again with some more supporting documents like e-mail and also a letter to overseas university to support my excuse to defer the assignment submission two weeks later which I reply no reply at that time weather is approved or not.

So the school director wrote e-mail to arbitrator and cc us to defense of what I written. So I wrote an e-mail to arbitrator to disqualify her email according to arbitration rules as I wrote this is never ending. I know the rule and the school broke it. So the arbitrator said and agreed that the school should seek his approval before submit any defense again. So Arbitrator ask me if I had anything to add on if not he will close the case and decided a few days later as he mention the dates. So I wrote and defense that I need to work cannot spend 4 hours daily to do assignment if each modules were given 50 hours of assignment time for 6 weeks which the arbitrator agreed my excuses not able to complete assignment to submit well as even school said the rest of the student had submitted all my assignment except me by deadline and I ask if they had fail any module as school said cannot disclosed so I suggest to hold a hearing instead. At End Feb this year the award is out and I win the case. I send some e-mail to chase the school director for payment and I go down the school to collect cheque and later bank to en cash S$4130 which arbitration fee like legal fee is fully bore by school as they loss the case in End March this year.

About my work. I had been working 3 months and received 3 months pay slip. The pay and pay slip is out the middle of the month except first month which is later at the end of the month. My pay is from S$2460 last Nov now is S$2900 plus a month bonus should be credited next year Feb if only completed at least a year work contract. I need to go work after 9am and left after 6pm Monday to Friday 40 hours not 42 hours as I am contract staff not a direct full time staff there. The travelling takes from 1.5 hours to 1 hour 40 minutes even from morning and at night reach back home. MC and leave are 14 days quite standard. Problem is at End Jan, I can start work in Feb but need to do security clearances take me a month a half close to start work Start March a few days later. Till now I not allow to use mobile phone with camera yet. No OT, No phone call at night or at leave mc to remote people computer to troubleshoot like a few times happen last job a few hours no OT and off when then remote phone support at home even MC leave need to support remote phone also.

For my medical condition, my psychiatrist said can reduce down medication gradually no need to take need family approval and close supervision. It is my first time hear psychiatrist agreed my request to try taper off medication as a few times I talk to her and she said medication I need to take these medications very long time as it is my best friends very good for me like vitamins even. My next appointment is Middle June 2014 and she will discuss with me about how to do it.

This happen in last Thu 03 April 2014 at night she called me. I broke up with her finally in 01 March 2014 afternoon. I told her tomorrow on 02 March 2014 she can go to the church herself alone. I would not be attending new creation church Singapore as I found a small church to go nearer my house every Sunday evening till now.

Why did I want to finally broke up with her. I going to tell you what happen since Sunday 23 Feb 2014 for these 7 days until I broke up with her finally. On Sunday afternoon, I reaching the church very soon, I ask her where is she. She said that sorry she did not tell me in advance as she is at her friend house. So she is asking me if I would like to go Vietnamese service in Queenstown Baptist Church. So at night I waited for her an hour and she arrived at train station said she still struck at her friend house in chua chu kang. So we go to her church very late as the service started at 6.30pm every Sunday as me the first time to attend.

So her birthday is 26 Feb 2014 Wednesday. She is 2 years younger then me. Before that I ask her what she want to do with her birthday. She said she is busy with her work no time to meet me said celebrate later and I do not know when. So on her birthday afternoon I ask her what you going to do with her birthday, she said tomorrow afternoon her colleagues want to celebrate with her at lunch. I been thinking she had a lot of free time with her colleagues but not me. So at Thursday night she whatsapp me the watch that her colleagues buy for her taken some photo where she wear it in her wrist. So she said it is nice so I told her is nice as watch small fit her small wrist too.

On Friday afternoon I ask her is she is attending my care group in new creation church later in evening. She said she let me know later. I let her know if she want can meet me at train station to bring her to my care group house. So about 6.30pm, I message her I going care group alone. She said sorry she still at work. After I come back from care group and ask her to meet up tomorrow afternoon as I need to talk to her. She said why. I told her I break up with her. She said need a week to decide to love me to go along as she said she love me but it is me who I really love her. I told her she is a player and she said she is not playing with me and she love me. So Saturday afternoon, I told her I do not think we suitable and we should break up as I told her my mum thinks I am a good man should be able to find others better easily. I block her whatapps, vibers as to prevent her keep message me she love me such kind.

Then last month those few weeks she send me quite a few sms as I did not block ask me how am I, I message her I am fine asking why she asking me. She never answer me. So Last Thursday night she ask me how am I, my job and church over the phone call. I told her I am good, I started working over a month, I went to another small churches visited cell group. So I ask her why are you asking me this to call me, it is that she found a boyfriend?

She told me she found a boyfriend. So I ask her is he a Christian, she said he attending new creation church. She did answer if he is a Christian as attending a church does not make you a Christian. She ask me do I found a girlfriend, I said I want to be single now. So I told her we can’t be together as not suitable like she let me wait in church so long and she told me bye so we end up the call. I think she is a player, do you think so? In the beginning of this year after a day or two since we exchange contact number over a dating web site www.singaporelovelinks.com she told me she love me and I said I love her to be girlfriend not even start as a friend simple. I think it is too fast my family thinks and I now believe that she is a player cheapo as so fast less than a month already have a boyfriend give me a call purposely tell me.

Finally today morning there is rain after a long dry spell since Mid of January this year.

The Rev. Cho Yong-gi, founder and pastor emeritus of Yoido Full Gospel Church in Seoul, South Korea, one of the largest Pentecostal churches in the world, has been sentenced to three years in prison for embezzling church funds.

Cho was found guilty of causing $12 million in losses to the church by having officials in 2002 buy stocks owned by his eldest son, Cho Hee-jun, at four times the market value, Yonhap reported on Thursday.

The 78-year-old pastor, who founded the church in 1958, will also have to pay about $4.6 million in fines. The junior Cho will also be serving a three-year prison term for colluding with his father, the Seoul Central District Court ruled.

According to The Gospel Herald, Cho was also found to have been evading 35 billion won (US $3.3 million) in taxes. The elderly pastor first came under investigation in 2011 when he was accused by 29 church elders of embezzling church funds and privatizing church assets.

Cho was apparently given a light sentence by the Seoul court because of his long-standing contributions to society, and will have a five-year stay of execution.

A biography of Cho on the English version of the Yoido Full Gospel Church website says that the pastor, who came to faith after attending a crusade led by American missionary Ken Tines, met Jesus in a vision one night while he was fasting and was baptized in the Holy Spirit.

“Pastor Cho gives thanks to the Lord for his 47 years of ministry, and has been sincerely serving 750,000 church members,” the biography states. “In the early 21st century, the church’s goals for next 10 years are to build 500 prayer houses and 5,000 satellite churches in Korea, and to expand global mission through internet broadcasting, and to enlarge overseas mission to the third world countries, including North Korea.”

This friend keep sms me many times that she want me to remove previous post. The reason is she does not let you all know she lost her virgin as it is suppose to be a secret between both of us.

I told her is my family will check or not and in a year or two once our relationship is deep and stable, if my family knows she is not a virgin, she may be hurt and sad my family angry I going to kill myself.

My family already said that since I know her just two weeks she disclose to me she is not a virgin, my family thinks it is too early relationship not deep stable enough not so nice.

My psychiatrist had replied my e-mail that she support the idea I should move on had many better things to do to drop this relationship as she comment it is intrusive in her opinion to dig out too much of my illness. I told this friend it may mislead her and it is doctor job to know the details to provide medical treatment well. My friends tell me since I broke up just be myself no need to find love now since both of my elder sister had not find love yet.

Sorry I cannot remove the post. I need this blog for people to learn about my life. I said it is very hard to recover our relationship, even I seek family advise can able to recover the relationship, we may not able to attend new creation church for the rest of the life as I in shame more than enough for break up and recover later on.

Mental illness must see doctor to see if medical treatment is needed. Any illness need to be treated as early as possible to enjoy life even more. I am not expert do not know if anyone man or woman loss virgin need to be properly deal with in order not to suffer sad but be happy enjoy life better more like an illness. If just keep secret is causing harm even more so I cannot accept her request to remove post.

If she feel too depress sad or hurt can’t sleep and go to work well, she may need to see doctor if medical treatment is needed. Then she can tell doctor the reason that she loss her virgin and I broke the promise cannot keep secret for her. Another thing is just now she told me via sms that she had two ex some more, one got sex before loss virgin and one did not. Medical care in Singapore even is more expensive, but much better than Vietnam I think.

I wrote a letter to New Creation Church Singapore yesterday send by fax and postal mail after I broke up with a friend.

Today afternoon I went to see my psychiatrist for follow up consultation and collect medication. She even wants to know what the actual medicine name is, I let her know and the dosage amount per pill. So the relationship went on a rock and I broke up with her as a friend. The reason is she told me she is not a virgin meant to be a secret my family would not know but my anger go and tell them and she knows. My family said it is not good to let me know about she is not a virgin as the relationship not deep enough known less than a month. I respect her decision. I not sure if my mental illness causing our relationship to be in a rock if not properly understood my medical condition, so my family want to tell the church that please get my permission not anyhow disclose sensitive information like I have mental illness to others as she is new sit beside me hear about her praying for me. I hope there is a house rule and common sense to be upheld by all brothers and sister in church that in service on stage and care group shared by others are confidential not supposed to spread outside for internal use only. You may copy this letter to my care group leader if you want to. I feel shame to come this church care group and services if leader and other in care group know that I broke up with her might as well worship other faith better now.

I think my post is very lengthy and you may not understand. But here is the find out and what I decided to do.

I seek NTUC as I am NTUC member paying monthly subscription now but job agency is not my employer so cannot do anything as it may not be employment issue and not covered under employment act. MP says can come for Monday night meet the people session and they can attempt to write a letter of appeal but since it is a private organization they are not obligate to reply. So it is pretty useless.

Even I seek civil lawyer they may not take in the case as my claim amount is too small not like 10K and above end up paying a few hundred dollars for consultation to seek legal advise. So I have to go small claim and I do not need legal aid how to do it as I done before. This is where job agency provide product and service to recommend job but I was not happy or unsatisfied about it. I had made payment like a month salary od S$2500 and want to have money order of S$2500.

Hopefully there will not be too much bargaining from job agency and/or registrar as I hope to get most of it if cannot be full amount. I will need to pay a fee of S$10 and obtain business profile of job agency if the small claim tribunal can accept my case to arrange an appointment with the registrar and both parties. I know that normally job agency charge a fee of 10% of employee salary to employer once they recommend job and accepted the offer like S$200 if the month salary is 2K. I do not know once I resign just like that the job agency cannot get the fee from employer so come and find the employee like me for it?
